Although the message here is deeply connected to both the band and the singer’s sexuality, I think the story about temptation is equally valid across the entire spectrum of attraction. It feels like a modern take on the eternal missive: why do I love what’s bad for me?

With a great rock intro, that tube-dirty chord suspension and a quick two-beat drum fill, the song moves straight into laying the groove down. With the punk-forward 8th notes on the guitar, the circle is complete; raise your hand if you remember Veruca Salt. It’s all raw attitude, good advice, and bad decisions. Yes, please.

Tancred’s critically acclaimed new album Nightstand is out now on Polyvinyl Record Co./Hand In Hive. This song is featured on our Roots Collection playlist.
