This plaintive and sleepy acoustic ballad builds slowly from guitar and vocal, to some added bass, and a few solemn notes on the piano and glockenspiel. From there, the string section begins to weave in for the bridge, and with a subtle but beautiful vocal harmony, the space is complete.

But only for a moment: A Place to Stay, the new single from Portuguese artist Olivae, if nothing else, is a reminder to appreciate beauty wherever it is found. Included is a message to find strength in the separation, and perhaps a fleeting pleasure from the pain.

“Every color is a dream
to make it through the day
and every word is a place
for us to stay”— Olivae

OLIVAE is the alter ego of Vasco Oliveira, a singer songwriter born in Porto, Portugal. This song is featured on our Rainy Day playlist.
