With an easy and mellow lead vocal somewhere between Nora Jones and Corinne Bailey Rae, the sweetness does not hinder the deep soul and plaintive pathos. Dana Williams embellishes a few jazz-flavored chords and a simple story to assemble this engaging love song.
With a touching love for honesty and wide-open spaces, the lyrical voice here seems both playful and earnest. There is a slow-motion quality to the verses, the groove being left to subsist on a simple kick drum pattern, which in turns sets up the lazy swing of the chorus turnaround. Everything feels like a hot and hazy summer afternoon.
