You've Been Consolidated.
I had some pretty big plans for my monthly playlists, but some changes to the process are necessary. I am going to try to lay out what happened, what is going to happen, and how CHILLFILTR artists will be affected.
It is all about the stats
SubmitHub just rolled out a lot more visibility into Spotify stats, and I'm totally into it. The thing is, up until now I wasn't playing it completely straight, so to speak. I am part of the RGB program, which restricts my turnaround time, which is fine with me, because I hate super-long turnaround times. What I was doing is Spotify adds for blog posts I had done earlier that month after the official share, which means everything recent was 'unofficial'.
SO, if I want to keep running a monthly playlist, in order to take advantage of the new stats tracking, I would need to sit on some tracks for more than 2 or even 3 weeks, and that is just too messy for me. So I've moved to weekly updates, on Thursday, and the existing CHILL NEW playlists have all been consolidated here.
So what does that mean?
A single CHILL NEW Songwriters master playlist means that only one song per artist is allowed; duplicates will be removed, keeping the most recent song, and older songs from artists with new coverage will be moved to other playlists at my discretion. So for any given artist, at the moment there are a maximum number of 4 slots available on CHILLFILTR's Spotify.
It should mean more followers for the one CHILL NEW playlist, and more listeners and plays for everyone involved, because there should be more crossover between artists.
And finally, now that all Spotify shares will be official, within a month or two we should finally have some real visibility into how many listeners we have.
Thanks for your support!
