Introducing the idea of baroque-pop, Gold Spectacles represents the fusion of electronic beat-making, sweeping arpeggiated synths, and a precisely-attenuated lead-vocal duet. With a wide dynamic range and a sparsely elegant production, we are exposed to the complicated interaction between musical personas: a post-punk experimentalism, and a darker take on modern downtempo.

Only at the end do we enjoy the full energy: the height of the arrangement, the elevated hook, and the final confession. It’s possible that everyone has a weakness; the thought that we are all one temptation away from a bad decision is both terrifying and exhilarating.

Gold Spectacles is the collaborative output of two British songwriter / producers. This track is featured on our CHILL Angeles playlist.
